鶹Ƶ named to top 10 list of world's best universities for arts and humanities
The University of Toronto is one of the ten best universities in the world for the arts and humanities, according to a prestigious international ranking released today.
In the latest result from the Times Higher Education (THE), the University ranks 10th among the world’s top institutions in the area of arts and humanities. Earlier this month, THE rated the University 19th overall in its rankings which measure the institutional excellence of the world’s top 200 universities in research, teaching and knowledge transfer.
“In a world of increasing global challenges, the arts and humanities have never been more important. They not only promote clear and critical thinking; they help us to build bridges across cultures and nations,” said David Naylor, University of Toronto president. “I’m delighted to see our faculty recognized for their remarkable teaching and world-leading research in this area.”
Two other Canadian universities placed in the top 50 for arts and humanities – McGill University placed 21st and UBC placed 28th.
Last week, THE ranked 鶹Ƶ first in Canada and 18th in the world for engineering and technology; three other Canadian universities ranked among the top 50 in that category. The organization has yet to release results for its remaining four subject categories.
