An industrial incident occurred at a construction site on the St. George campus Friday morning. One construction worker died in the incident and a second was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The general contractor on the site is working with the Ministry of Labour and gathering information about the incident. No further details were available.

“This is something we never want to see happen on our campuses, and our deepest sympathies go out to those affected,” said Scott Mabury, vice-president of operations at the University of Toronto.  “We’re working with the Ministry and with the general contractor to determine the series of events that led to the incident.”
