Paul Piunno recognized with President’s Teaching Award
Paul Piunno has received a President’s Teaching Award for sustained excellence in teaching, research in teaching and the integration of teaching and research.
An associate professor, teaching stream, in the department of chemical and physical sciences at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Mississauga, Piunno is one of two professors receiving the award this year. Working with colleagues, he developed the Advanced Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory (AIRLab), to give fourth-year undergraduates the experience of working on a research project in an interdisciplinary team.
President’s Teaching Award winners receive an annual professional development allowance of $10,000 for five years, and are designated members of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Teaching Academy for at least five years. The academy meets regularly to discuss teaching and offers advice to the vice-president and provost, as well as the director of Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation.
